Hid light levelling start up test

Featured Replies

Hi  sorry, just a very quick question before the mot tomorrow,  I have factory HID lights, but they don't go through the levelling test. The lights were badly aimed when I bought it a year ago  and the sensor wasn't connected to the wishbone.

I tried resetting them once months back  and they went though their test. Once. Only once, them never again.

Part of me thinks I need to adjust them up or down a little,  but do they test on ever engine start with the lights on? Once a day?

Thanks!

If it helps any, my level sensor failed a couple of months back and it still passed the MOT with the lights in the 'safe' position. YMMV.

I had a similar thing with my b7 a4, pulled the fuses so i didn't get the warnings, and passed fine. However due to me forgetting my mot runs out tomorrow,  I had to book away from my usual place, so not sure how this new one will treat it lol. Besides, I'd rather fix it, at least sonits not forcing itself past the mechanism stops. But to know if it's fixed, I need to know how to make sure it tests

Your starting point is a VCDS scan and work from there.

ran out of time, but got a pass today anyway. still want to fix it though, because of towing.

so does it do the test once at every start up? or every time the healdights are switched on? or something else?

You have a dodgy level sensor, you need to find out which one it is.
