Totally agree.................

I understand that the 2.0TDi gets pretty good results but the turbo is smaller than that of the 1.9tdi so they are not quite as dramatic

Hi, not sure about the size, but generally its seems quicker and smoother? I haven't had much chance to check it out except for my 7 miles to work:(

The 2.0 TDI is a 16v engine. That helps too.

i thought this thread was about remaping octys not insurance debates, lol..

Especially when YOU have to fork out hundreds of thousands in a major RTC when your insurance is voided!, oh and then there's the prison sentance...

I wonder if we share or once shared the same occupation?

How much can the DSG handle then? Whats a safe number of bhp?

it's not the bhp, but the torque. I don't know the limit though

So that explains why the VRS TDI only produces 350 Nm.

Anyone know how much the manual box in a TDI VRS can take?

Fair bit more. Is it a similar box to the MK1 Octy diesels? My friend is running considerably more in his without issue.

not sure the MK I only has a 5 speed in the 110, not sure how similar it is to the 6 speed in the PD 130's

His is the 6 speed IIRC. He's running about 350lb/ft in old money :D

I've heard that remaps on the 2.0 are a bit hit and miss as the code seems to vary from car to car.

Also heard that the turbo on the new 2.0 is smaller than that used on the old PD130s. Wonder if it would be a straight swap :rubchin:

Yes i heard the PD140 is smaller, but the PD170 has a bigger turbo so who knows.

Hmm, remap a 170 :D

Is it the same gearbox in that as to the 140s? Bit pants if it is :(

Really tempted by a remapped PD140 4x4 estate if I'm honest, wonder how much the PD105 4x4 badges are or if they'd be included in the price ;)

Better spec and I'd bet not a lot slower :D The 2.5k saved buying it would buy me a nice wheel and suspension upgrade too ;)

Seems like its not worth it then, thanks for the advice and saving me

Jon 4x4

You know Jon I was thinking about the 4x4, only thing that puts me off is the brake upgrade, suspension drop to normal heights and the remap wouldn't play nice with my insurance.

Surely you can get a sdi badge for it :P
