Fabia Mk 2 - Blower fan - not working

Featured Replies

Hi,

Fabia Mk 2 2014 1.2 S

The blower fan has stopped working for the 2nd time in the last year.

A local garage replaced a fuse and got it working last time. If I remember correctly they said that there is a second fuse which had blown (I checked the main fuse box and all fuses were ok last time). I wasn't aware of any other fuse.

Any idea where this 2nd fuse may be ?

Any help appreciated

Mine stopped working a week after I got the car. The motor had failed. Luckily the dealer who sold it was happy to fit a new motor for me.

For clarity and to get more appropriate responses

Does it not work on any speed.

Did it stop working on all speeds at the same time.

What type of heating system is it, your S may be the basic system, but some models have the clymatronic? which may result in a different answer.

Thanks KeithCheetham - It was working on full speed and then just stopped working on all speeds. Does not work at all now. It's AC but not climatic system

Usually it is the resistor pack, the clue being max speed only working but you may have a failed motor as well or a blown fuse.

Crasher - it's a problem on all speeds. Probably a blown fuse but maybe resister pack issues as well.

Any idea if there is more than 1 fuse for the blower system ?

There's a thermal fuse within the resistor pack, the pinked bit here, but top speed  (4) should still work with that blown. In fact, the resistor pack can be completely removed and top speed should still work, assuming it's still wired the same way as back in the days of the mk1.

If the blower motor fuse is blowing then I suspect the cabin filter may be clogged, you should replace it if it's not been changed recently.

Many thanks - I'll check this out
