Can I do it?

Featured Replies

I recently was a passenger in a new vRS hatch and was very impressed.

I am looing for a new car anyway and had never considered a skoda, but really liked the interior and equipment lvel on the Octavia.

anyway after just a brief look I discovered in Newcastle (I live close by) at a main dealer a 2003 vRS (nk03***) at

simple things like being able to see the front of the car over the dash....the seats seemed quite low slung but I assume they are height adjustable

Yes, they are height adjustable, though I'm pretty sure you'll struggle to see the end of the bonnet on a lot of modern cars, as they are sloped to be "pedestrian friendly".

But just buy it anyway, you won't regret it... :D

Rob.

the best model in the best colour... what more could you want... apart from a WRC wing de-cat chip coilovers cage nos... etc

Welcome to Briskoda, FTM! (from an ex-pat Geordie)

And certainly don't mention anything about the rear visibility ;):D (unless it has parking sensors)

..if its their demonstrator it should be ok

Beware - demonstrators are seldom looked after or run-in properly. :nono:

Other than that, you will not regret getting a vRS - just check the demo one carefully before you hand over any cash!

Andy

Mine is ex demonstrator, now on 60k without any major problems.

Don't let it scare you, especially as it may have a few options that you don't have to pay for.

(did anyone think I *chose* the plas.. wood dash kit!!?? :D)

Rob Mawer told me you and he fitted it as you had always drempt of owning a Rover and this was as close as you could get..... :flowers:

I should just like to point out that no trees were harmed in the making of Ian's dashboard... :D

Only the same ones that were used in the manufacture of your wheeldiscs :p

I hope that's not a dig at Rob being from Rochdale....

We might be a bit slow, but we're not totally backwards1

Anyway, 12K for a nerly new vRS? Go for it - wish i had 12k to burn :p

 If it was he'd (as everyone sodding else does!) probably have mentioned something about social security fraud...

Mind you, with the wood trim his car does have that certain indefinable touch of luxury, so no doubt he does cast a scornful glance down upon those in the proletariat classes... :D

Ah Ha.. Another potential member of the NE Brethren. Buy it then come and join the fun. But be careful the vRS is VERY expensive to own - ReMap, DV, Exhaust...etc. :D :D

Hmmm. Might need to organise another NE meet....

Just buy it.

FTM, the Octavia is a b****y good car in its many guises. If you thought it good when you had a test drive, you will find it to be even better when you buy one. Go for it. :D

PS: If you would like confidential and unbiased advice on model and colour to buy, please feel free to send me a PM. And if you do buy a vRS, I can provide you with a free counselling service should the need arise.

Welcome to Briskoda FTM!

One of my very first posts when we were all on 'Vortex' was a should I/shouldn't I and I haven't looked back since. Apart from at much more expensive machinery.

Both the RS and the 4x4 are excellent cars (after a years careful study, overall the advantage with the 4x4 being that it's available in more colours if you like that sort of thing).

Join us all on the slippery slope :asthanos:

And its easier to hide under a 4x4 in the event of a nuclear attack...

Personally, i'd rather fry ;)

Welcome FTM, I see you have made the jump from OCUK safely ;)

The man has a point. Obviously if it were a Golf 4x4, VW would have fitted a step ladder as standard but Denis had to buy his own (it's Skoda after all). He had them Jabba'd though, galvanised induction flanges and a high boost inlet grommit. You won't see a nicer pair of steps in the St. Neots area. He was going to try Revo but no one could work out who to ask for.

I'm crying with laughter.

I'll be back, Rich....

PS: On a point of order, you can shelter from nuclear fall-out under the rear door of the 4X4 Estate without worrying about it dripping into the boot - unlike the common or garden version of the vRS. :)

Point taken Denis. I just feel left out if I haven't had a go recently.

Welcome FTM, I too am from Newcastle and would pass on a piece of advice from when I bought my VRS new. Their are three main dealers on Tyneside, Silbury in Cramlington, Benfield in the toon and a dealer in Ryton Gateshead (Name I've forgot). Try all three and trade them off against each other, Silbury tend to offer the best deal if really pushed on a new motor, and they espically don't like being beat by Benfield which you could use to your advantage.

Also, from recent talks to the dealer, (I don't want to upset anyone here) they reckon that a Black or Silver vRS re-sell better then a Red or Yellow one (Steady all, just what the delaer said), so you may wish to bare that in mind. Either way, what ever colour, the vRS is a great motor..Good Luck :santa:
