Audience upgrade and speakers not possible???

Featured Replies

After chatting with other brisks decided to go for 12 speaker and audience upgrade to my elegance estate. However today silsbury skoda call me and tell me its no longer possible to do this and i have to stick with a stream. They reckon its due to the autochanger in the boot and the wiring. Anyone else had this proble,m or am i being bulls**tted????

Sounds dodgy to me mate. With the Audience upgrade you don't get a Autochanger in the boot as the header unit has a six disc changer built in. Would check with another dealer. It's possibly because he can get hold of the spec your after minus the Audio upgrade and that would be a factory order and a couple of months wait.

Thats what i thought, i reckon hes not happy because i told him id remove the lifeshine from my order. i said why cant they just leave out the boot changer but he reckoned its not possible because its wired through, sounds like a crock to me.

Read the thread "2007 Models", especially the word doc at the top of page 2 - basicaly Skoda have dropped the Audience upgrade and have added mp3 playing to the Stream unit. Also, the Boot mounted CD changer which was an option on the lower models is now available across the whole range, instead of the Audience unit.

A question which I would be interested to hear though - will you get the CD changer as standard, or is it an option? If it's an option, how much is it?

This of course, would only apply to a factory order, as it changed at the start of the month.

I'm trying to order at the moment (through a leasing company), and I can no longer upgrade to the Audience unit, but equally, I can't spec the CD changer either, which is why I'm wondering whether it's standard towards the upper end of the range...

Dealers cannot order the radio upgrade and 12 speakers anymore. So you can be sure they are not "bull*******" you. Did you ever think that maybe dealers don't always try to fob you off, unless they don't like...

they seem like a good bunch to me, its just they said it was possible and called me days later to say it wasnt, at the end of the day its 620 quid off the car...

and have added mp3 playing to the Stream unit...

its hardly just an matter of a software upgrade to enable the original ones to do it ?

Btw when I ordered mine in Ireland I was told the Audience was only available WITH the speaker pack.

So does this mean that new Octy's can no longer have 12 speakers?

When they first started selling them you could buy the head unit upgrade on it's own or have the 12 speakers as well.

Then they changed to only selling it as a package

Silsbury have been really good for me and certainly seem to know what they are talking about so I would be surprised if they were lying

 (they must have changed it very early though as I ordered quite early, although things could have been different here from the start ;) )
