Querky electronics on Skodas?

Featured Replies

I’ve noticed a few things about my Skoda I’ve never had on other VAG type cars. Wondered if it’s a feature of the Skoda brand.

The first one is when I put my car in reverse, the passenger mirror drops as expected but intermittently it stays in that position and does not return to the normal position.

The second is when another driver enters the car and selects their driving profile it doesn’t always engage the electric seat to their setting… again totally intermittent.

The NS mirror should return to its normal position once you’re above 10kph (I think it’s something like that) or you turn the ignition off. Take a look in your manual.

I don’t have a profile as such, as I’ve enabled easy entry, but once that’s set, it’s fine. What does yours do, intermittently?

It doesn’t always return to

normal position after performing a reverse. If I nudge it back to its stock

position it’s ok then next time, sometimes not.

sounds like something is up with ur seat controller module (#36).

it is also used to store the memory position for the outside wing mirrors.

given both ur seats and wing mirrors r misbehaving intermittently, i'd look at scanning the car to see if any codes come up.

using OBDEleven or VCDS.

the earlier revisions of the seat controller modules either need to be updated or replaced.

mine was replaced a couple of years ago, under warranty.

I'll give it a scan to see if any errors show up.

Gave it a scan, no error codes on this occasion. As I say it’s very intermittent when it occurs. Reminds me of how my automatic wing mirrors on the Mk7 golf sometimes don’t auto fold out until you fiddle the knob a few times and then they spring into life.

I did have when I bought the car over a year ago as the programmable seat didn’t work, but after performing the reset procedure i fixed that and it’s worked ever since.

I’d try resetting it again as sometimes they can go a bit squiffy. For instance, this morning, the drivers window one shot wouldn’t auto open or close it, so I manually closed it and held the switch up for 10 secs and it was fine again.

Yep I’ll give that a go. It’s been behaving  my itself today. No big deal, just curious what others out there experience.

I have similar intermittent electric seat and mirror issues.

How do you perform the reset?  Thanks.

I may have it looked at before my UAW runs out next month.

Turn on the ignition.
Without sitting on the seat, send the seat all the way to the front.

When it stops, release the switch, then press the switch forward again and the seat will move forward a few mm and stop.
Then do the same in reverse - literally.

Make the seat go all the way back.
When it stops, release the switch, then press the switch back again and the seat will move back a few mm and stop.

Get in and adjust the seat to the position you want.

Now press the “Set” button and select the corresponding memory button you wish to use and you’ll get the confirmation “bong” from the dash.
