Change reversing light bulbs to LEDs

Featured Replies

Has anyone done this yet as I could do with more/better light before winter? If so, what bulbs did you choose? Main issue seems to be just how much force is needed to twist and remove original bulb holder from cavity in boot lid

Update! I've tried this usig what were sold as "CANBUS Error Free" LED bulbs; improvement in light output was exactly what I hoped BUT dashboard warning message "Check Reversing Lights" then came on so I had to revert to original filament bulbs to clear the faullt log. I thought this is what Error Free was meant to compensate for so may have to try other bulbs types

You have more patience than me…..just for led reversing lights??

My MC has led reversing lights and they are ok……but not worth the grief it seems you are going through😂😂

I normally go for slightly more expensive LED replacements and I’ve never had an issue, plus you get a good warranty with the more premium LED bulbs.

I don’t know if they are the same fitment as the Karoq but I got my 955 (W16W) reverse bulbs from AutoBeam and they’ve been great since I installed them months ago.

Another thing you could try is using an OBD II adapter along with either Carista or OBDEleven and you have the ability to change each individual bulb to be recognised as either halogen or LED which should, in theory, remove the error even if they aren’t CANBUS compatible as it isn’t expecting as high a power draw if a bulb is set to LED.

I changed my rear indicators to LED without a canbus error but I tried 2 different LEDs for the reversing and wasn't able to get ones that were totally canbus free.

I think it's a case of you get what you pay for and anything under £20/pair isn't up to the job. Having said that I'd still like to hear a recommendation from anyone who has done it successfully 🕯️

I have the below fitted in my Mk3 Octavia and I coded them in correctly. I also have the same type (not fitment) in my rear indicators. Again coded correctly. Fitted since 2020 and 2018. All still working. None throw errors. All pass MOT.

Yes they are a tad more expensive that the Alibaba crap but, they work as expected and required. You get what you pay for 🤷🏻‍♂️

Those certainly look reassuringly expensive but I'm still trying other options at the moment - and I need wedge bulbs for the Kamiq, not bayonet, thanks
