Reversing Aid on an Octy

Featured Replies

I've just been given a rough price on the phone by my dealer to retro-fit the parking sensors onto my vRS (Hatchback).

They reckon about

You'll learn quick enough how to reverse it if you don't have them!

Spend 250 quid on getting it to go forward quicker... :p

Rob.

By that do you mean the vRS Swissol mod, Rob?

Fit your own, its not Cruise ya know ;)

Not sure about the price but they are worth having.

IIRC Graham (Bandit1) posted how to fit them.....PM him for details or check out the FAQ...tehy may be there.

hmmmm ... think I might just keep the cash and stop being a nancy-boy about parking ... I can always make the Misus get out and subtley (no arm waving & shouting  ) watch me back.

When I say "keep the cash", this isn't strictly true.

I have begun the descent of the slippery slope. :D SWMBO has agreed to fund the purchase of a replacement CAI (it's me Burfday just after Crimbo), and all I need do now is choose. Dynatwist or ABD?

SkodiRS seemed impressed with the Dynatwist kit from Badger5, so I might go with that. The standard setup is a bit too quiet for my liking ... a bit like having a dog that bites but doesn't bark. Am I right in saying that replacing the CAI will improve the sound (sucky & psssst noises etc.) alone, or would I need to replace the Dump valve too? I've read most of the older posts, but I was left a little uncertain about this point. I'm happy with the power at the moment ... a remap isn't on the cards just yet, but I would like a little more giggle-factor. (cue much laughter from the hardcore power freaks, I know).

Anyways, the reverse aid is off the list, and I intend to get the new induction bits ordered before Christmas, so any opinions will be listened to.

Oh, and sorry for the long post

HKP,

if you want a lot more noise then go the ABD route with a replacement DV. The Dynatwist is a lot quieter which suited my requirements (main family car) plus IP didn't have the ABD when I wanted one (out of stock and I was impatient).

ABD cost around

It's the Dynatwist kit for me I think. Sounds like the best compromise and looks easy enough to fit.

If I ring today, I might even get it by Crimbo, and I can get it fitted over the hols

Whats the nest stop on the slippery slope I wonder?

Chris

Ooooh, that'll be (in no particular order):

Inlet pipe

If Bill's got in stock should get it by next week sometime. Remember to say your a Briskoda member to get a discount.

I had them fitted from new and it wasnt long before they saved me from reversing into a short concrete post in a car park. saved me from an expensive ding.

OK I know you've made your decision, but I got parking sensors on mine and would now never consider having another car without them.

It is an option I can not recommend highly enough.

hmmmmm, after Christmas perhaps.

I just spoke to Badger5, and the needful respiratory surgery for Mr Octy will be here next week. The car is now booked into my mates garage to have it fitted on Monday 22nd .... :p

The slippery descent looks like being fun. Thanks for the advice that I've read on here that helped me choose, folks.

If I could get the OE ones fitted for

Form an orderly queue Gentlemen, no pushing at the back ... :nono:

If I could get the OE ones fitted for

Must admit that the Octy RS rear vision is not great but i've never found it too difficult to reverse and I do have to reverse several times every day. I've just had to learn to use my wing mirrors a lot more and learn the length of the car - I was going to get sensors initially but not bothering now

If I could get the OE ones fitted for

i was considering them for my car however the combi is very easy to reverse and park however i am always worrying about the potential alloy and kerb interaction
