Radio interference when lights are on

Featured Replies

I have a 2014 Roomster auto - originally disabled user. When the lights

are on, either side or heads, I get a hum from the sound system with extra noise when the gears change. If I just flash the main beam there is no interference. I wonder if it is the switch and how I might be able to check that out. Hoping someone can help

Just found that wiggling the wiring cover to the passenger door makes the speaker crackle. With the correct wiggle the hum disappears. I can’t think why the light switch should affect the speaker  -  probably only VW would be able to answer that.

I would suspect a broken or frayed wire in the rubber shroud between door and body .

Or it may be the plug connection in the rubber shroud is slightly loose.Where wires go from doors to body is the most common weakness in the Roomster.

Thank you bobspark. I would like to make sure that there is no risk of shorting or fire. The shroud seems to be very tight into the door and the frame. Will it just lever out with the help of a worn screwdriver? Or do I need to remove the door panel? Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

Yes I think I used a broad flat blade screwdriver . I think it went that there's a socket affair 2 on the car body side ,and just wires going through bellows 20 in the door side . So probably best to go for the door side and pull back the bellows there. Diagram as example.
