Fabia mk1 bcm sockets

Featured Replies

Morning!

Does anybody know which connectors run to the front wiper motor on the bcm? Got no power at the wiper motor plug so i need to test the line out from the bcm to motor. Am I right in thinking that its the second black plug with four pinouts?

ThankyouIMG_20230816_115136.thumb.jpg.e5ca443c503c90c114387f230d923de1.jpgIMG_20230816_115136.thumb.jpg.e5ca443c503c90c114387f230d923de1.jpg

XP4, yep.

Pin 4 is the output for normal speed, and the intermittent function.

Thank you Pete! You are a shining star!

No problem. Have you seen the guide for relay replacement? An alternative to BCM replacement if the fault is narrowed down to the relay.

I did consider the soldering option but chucked that idea out as I have so much other work on,  it's not viable. Ta.

I have had the board out, the relay itself seems to be quite fine with its clicketty click, but is very erratic. Sometimes it clicks in all positions and sometimes  only in speed two. I noticed that sometimes tapping the board made the wipers momentarily operate but then nothing. Also there's another relay on the board which clicks in and out at random. Im thinking it may be a dry joint somewhere on that board. I can pick up a second user module for a tenner with a new relay already in from a polo (same part number) so will just need to get it cloned. £80 and its back on the road!

(I won't be paying for it anyway, my daughter will!)

Going to shove 12volts up pin 5 later to see if it jumps in to life

Just shove a link wire in the back of pin 3, linking it to pin 4 with it still plugged in, and it should make the wipers come on at normal speed for as long as the link is there.

Hey! I could jury rig the wipers full time that way! 😃

Just kidding!

Thank you muchly.

Hi again. I did as you said just now, wipers run  linked like that and i tested that with pins 3&4 and pins 3&5. Both speeds work fine. So that rules out a wiring fault and confirms that the bcm is faulty. (This was with that plug right out of its socket as well)

I am having trouble finding a second hand bcm for my ASY engine code and may need to perform surgery on the nasty board as you suggested. I hate having to bogger around with solder but it seems i may be forced to. I have the desoldering tool thats like a small chicken basting bulb. In fact it's very useful for basting blackbirds when you bake them in a pie.(as the rhyme goes!)

One thing that is making me hesitant is doing the job and STILL having that fault! Would be just my luck!

Needs must, and all that.

Can you do without the car for a few days? You could post the BCM to me to fix if so. Having said that, engine code shouldn't matter very much, you just need to match the full part number including the suffix letter. Probably 6Q1937049C?

the advantage of fixing yours is that the soft coding will be right, without any VCDS action, which might or might not be needed with another unit.

Would you be willing to do that? That would be fantastic! Should I get the relay first, just found a few on ebay. Right numbers apart from the very bottom one which starts with ++.

Just name your price! It will be worth it for peace of mind.

I'd be happy to. Pretty sure I have some suitable relays already. If you posted it before last collection today, I'd get it tomorrow with a bit of luck. I could send back on Monday and you'd have it back Tuesday?

£25?

Worth more than that! You undersell yourself sir!

I shall remove the whole unit then and pack it to send. How do I get the money to you?

I'll send you a PM in a sec, with address details etc.

I had better get the thing out then quickish... 😃

I believe the connectors are all keyed so that they'll only fit back in their correct spots.
