Octy CD changer died

Featured Replies

Hello,

My 2001 Octy 6-CD changer has died, the HU is a Symphony I've looked on ebay which seems to have several 6-CD units which they describe as suitable for the Volkwagen group of cars. My question is how do I tell which would be compatable with the Symphony HU?

Any help greatly appreciated

When you say dead what do you mean dead?

Mine said magazine, surface or mechanic randomly when it felt like it.

There are two things that seem to be fairly common with this, one it it needs cleaning witha CD cleaner and that has worked with mine. The other is that the connector underneath the changer can come loose or get coroded. If it is clean it up and put it back together and all is usually fine.

Oh and welcome to briskoda :)

Thanks for the welcome to a brilliant forum.

The CD unit stopped working a while ago, after it got stuck with one of my own recorded CDs. Since then completely nothing from it. Taken it to the main dealers who were pretty useless. I took it to two ICE specialist both confirm its the unit thats gone.

So I'd love to buy a replacement, but want to be sure the one I get it will be compatable with the Symphony.

So any further help greatly received.

I had a CD stuck in my mondeo changer last week. With some patience I disasembled the changer and managed to get the now wrecked disc out of the player. I restraightened a metal part and put it all back together. The changer is now back in the car and working fine once more.

Somebody on here is looking to sell one/put it on ebay about a day ago.

See if you can hunt them down :)

Yes, lots of people have upgraded their Octavia's sound system and so no longer require the changer - have a search around

I've managed to help out :):)

Huge thanks to everyone for your replies.

I'm just searching for the thread on removing the old unit.

Thanks again
