Octavia Combi 2016 Headlight LED strip stopped working

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

LED strip on my right headlight stopped working with an error message of "check right daytime running light". I am thinking of buying a new (used one) and now I am wondering if it is possible to buy the wrong model? I am looking at Octavia MK III bi-xenon lights, but I am not sure if there is more possible options? I have Ambition model, and the lights do turn when I turn the steering wheel.

How to be sure I am buying the right one?

I would really appreciate some help, thanks!

It might not be as straightforward as replacing the led light unit, I believe there is a control unit located somewhere under the headlight which is often the actual problem.

Yes the one I am trying to buy has both, the light and the control unit. Do the numbers have to mach completely? Below you can see my light (left) and the one I am thinking of buying. So I guess this is not a match?

I don’t know. The description when I googled the part numbers comes up with the exact same descriptions and up to 04/17 model. There must be some difference and the 10S on one and 16S on the other clearly means something. I think I would be looking for the exact same number on the replacement, unless someone can say one or the other is an updated number and will work ok.

They aren’t cheap !

Check the new price from Skoda first. I needed a new rear light unit and the used prices on eBay were actually more than the price of a new one from the dealer….
