It's quite interesting how did this top part of the  dsg gear shifter got broken. it is really sharp. need replacing but couldn't figure out which part do i need to change. Shall i chnage the whole shifter or it is cheap to buy just the shifter and easy to replace. did anybody change their dsg gear knob or gear shifter? could you help me with the original part number and the website please.

I saw this one, but can not feel myself confident enough to change it in case i break something. Wondering if some one else did it. also does anyone know the website where i can source this part and preferably side leather as well. 

I sourced mine (VRS fabia) from Skodaparts.com 5E0 713 146 E

The gaiter is available from your local vag dealer not a bad price, 5J2 713 123 N DYT

It took me about 30 minutes in total to replace

They sell only Plaquette and whole handle but not the switch/shifter. I'll call skoda dealer tomorrow if they can give me any price.
