Octavia speedometer failure!!!

Featured Replies

Hi! My 1.9 TDI 2000 X plate Octavia GLX has a problem! Used it this morning and the speedometer is not working! It was definitely working yesterday but now its packed up, there's no fault codes stored anywhere, the ev counter, gauges and all other warning lights are OK, just no speedo. I have checked the fuses and nothing seems to have become unplugged.

Anyone got any ideas?

Does the octy do it by wire from the gear box?

If you have climate control then use the diganostics on there (channel 16 I think) by pressing fan speed down, blue button and econ together. Use blue and red to cycle through to the right channel and see if that gives a speed reading. If not then you are not getting any reading, if so then something else is up.

Sorry sure somebody will be more useful than me, but this might help you locate the problem a bit.

i *think* the octavia is all digital and not run off a cable. but i could be wrong.

Hi guys and gals, the car is drive by wire, i've got no climatronic either so can't work out if gearbox end or dashboard end, thanks anyway.

Have you tried a final control diagnosis. Go in to 17 (dash panel) then 03, this will activate all the gauges and warning lights in turn. If the speedo works in this then you could have a problem with the signal generator unit on the gear box.
