Same or different Haldex?

Featured Replies

The other day i met with a friend who bought a Golf R32 (MK4). We all know the R32 uses the same 4wd system as the 4x4 Octy and 4motion Passat.

My question is, is the haldex in the R32 any different than the one in the Octy or Passat? Do they handle torque and wheelspin in the same way? What about the quality of the components? Driveshaft, haldex unit, software, etc?

some say same some say different, buggered if i know.

The haldex is of the same type in the Golf/TT/Octavia etc.

However the older 4Mo/Syncro Passats isnt, that shares the viscous coupling with the A4/A6 quattros.

The new Transverse Passat has the same Haldex 2 unit as the Octavia 2/Golf V.

Excelent. Good to know your haldex can take as much pain as the one in my friend's R32 (clutchdumps @ 6000rpm from that 3.2 VR6, all day long).

Thanks for the replys

oh the haldex will take the abuse but watch out for the box and clutch :)
