Transfer case removal

Featured Replies

Hi guys, im trying to remove the transfer case to be able to take down the DPF, but struggling a bit. All bolts are lose and the transfer case is loose, but the enigine mount braket for the transfer case is behind something i assume is a engine mount, so i cant pull the transfer case to the right out of the gearbox. Not sure if i missed something, does anyone have a guide on how the remove the transfer case on a 2007 octavia scout?

Attached a picture, theres an arrow where the mount, or whatever it is is bolted to the engine side, should i just take it off?IMG_0773.thumb.jpeg.d90ec226d344237ee1ca45e80cb5f398.jpeg

So there was a 6mm allen bolt about 25cm in the hole, got it out, and was able to pull it out a bit, is it just to take out fully or is the 4x4 connected to this in some way since it sits so hard? Learned the bracket thats in the way for the mount bracket, the one with the arrow, is the turbo oil return.

Form memory when we had the dpf sorted on our 2007 4x4 the guys said they managed to get the dpf off without taking the transfer box off.   There was apparently just enough room to lever it to one side and get the dpf out.

Got everything out and found out the exhaust gasket needs to be replaced, so since all oil from the transfer case came out i ordered 1 liter of oil from the dealer. So do i fill it as below and use 0,8 liter? Torque for fastening, 25nm?

I think it is really low like 8Nm, 25Nm will pull the thread and that will make you very unhappy.

There's also a magnetic drain plug available on ECS tuning website.
