Graphite Grey or Brilliant Silver

Featured Replies

Looking at buying a new Octavia VRS but I can’t decide between Graphite Grey or Brilliant Silver. I like the contrasting black mirrors, grill and lettering and think that stands out on the silver but the grey maybe looks a bit more modern and sporty. Just wanting some opinions on the colours, pros, cons? Thanks.

While not a VRS, this my iV SEL in the Brilliant Silver that I chose.. Maybe helps

Colour is a very personal thing.

There are plenty of both around, but then if you go to any car park, will see many cars in various shades of grey.  The darker grey is bit more modern and contemporary.

But if you want your car to not be just another boring grey car then you have to pick one of the unusual colours like Phoenix orange or Royal green or Hyper green.

You will occasionally hear salesman say only grey, black & white sells well, then when you look at their used cars, find they are the ones they haven't managed to sell yet, and all the coloured ones have gone.

I like both the Graphite Grey and Brilliant Silver; though whilst the grey is more contemporary (in fashion) I reckon it will go out of fashion at some point (and maybe become less saleable). On the other hand, silver is timeless, but a bit ‘samey’.

If I were to get one on a two or three year lease then it’d be the grey; whereas an outright purchase on my usual six-ish year cycle then silver.

I've got a graphite grey one and it doesn't show the dirt as much as a silver.

Which is good as I hardly wash it in the winter 😅

I would always go for a darker colour if the car has a lot of chrome/silver detailing so for me I’d go for the grey on an SEL and maybe silver on the VRS

Thanks for the advice, I think probably I will go for the silver. It used to be quite common but now it seems grey has taken over, every other car you see is grey so I think the silver will be a bit different and contrasts well with the black trim.

The red is very nice 😉

I've always gone for red cars. The Leon (last daily) was silver but I went back to red for the VRS.

Personally, most greys look like primer and the factory forgot to paint the car.

I regularly see a VRs in the Phoenix Orange on my commute, looks fantastic! To the OP I'd go with the grey, silver never really 'sparkles' however much you polish it, a dark grey when polished and waxed looks very cool IMO
