Start button not working sometimes

For a couple of weeks I sometimes have problems starting or stopping the engine. I press the button but nothing happens. I do this a few times and eventually it works and the engine starts (or stops). Is this a common fault? Any known remedies?  The car is just over one month out of warranty...

change the battery in the key

It was the actual button.  Easy to replace and all working again now.
