Using dealer for DSG/Haldex but indy for other servicing?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Now I'm avoiding dealers wherever possible (after the ****ery that was the 23AX update and their inability to acknowledge a problem).

I have a small indy garage that I plan to use for MOT/Oil/brakes etc. but I'm not sure if I should be using a main dealer or a more specialist indy for things like DSG and Haldex oil changes.

Taking a day out of my life or not having a courtesy car is a bit of a barrier to using indies further away (from Nottingham)

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on this?

TIA

Use who can do the job, all the gear and more than ideas, doing Servicing & Maintenance correctly.

& knows of Recall, Recall Actions, Service Campaigns etc, and only does them if you agree after they show what they are and why required, or not required.

@ a Main Dealer.

Be sure the Haldex is being correctly serviced by them, not just oil change.  Screen cleaned or replaced if your Haldex has a Screen / Filter, which it will.

DSG, if there is a filter and there are with a DQ250 or a DQ381. You want that replaced.

DSG oil change dq250 wet clutch requires the oil temperature to be measured via diagnostics to check the refill level properly. Not beyond most garages these days they all have to have diagnostic tools TBF else they'd be out of business.

Give CJ Mechanical in Notts a look up, he's down by Lady Bay Bridge. Great specialist indy, very knowledgeable and trustworthy, he's sorted some difficult issues for me that puzzled many dealers and "specialists".
