New (to me) Superb woes

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I purchased a used approved 22 plate Superb Sportline 2 weeks ago but it's not exactly been smooth sailing since.

After a few teething issues, admittedly mainly user error, I was starting to really fall in love with the car. Unfortunately, it hasn't lasted. Since having it, I'd noticed that it was prone to steaming up. The dealer applied some form of interior protection product as part of the deal so I was quick to tell myself between that and a mixture of being stood around on the forecourt and short trips with little to no A/C drying and that after a few days of nicely drying out with use it would sort itself out. However, it seemed to be getting worse. The recent dip in temperatures found heavy condensation build up and upon closer inspection while cleaning I found the drivers side carpet quite wet. I previously owned a 17 Octavia Vrs and had a nightmare with a leaking windscreen so I'm quite paranoid about such things now. Anyway, it's wettest around the foot rest/tunnel but when I peeled up the small perforated flap area under the seat I noticed it's wet under there too. So I'm guessing either cursed and I have ANOTHER skoda with a leaky windscreen, or the A/C drain or possible sunroof drains. My question is, my previous Octavia developed this fault outside of warranty so I stumped up for a windscreen replacement (via insurance). But, would this issue be covered, either by the remaining manufacturers warranty or the 12 month used approved warranty?

Also, I appear to have lost one of the small black trims from near the fog lights (see pictures) ironically the remaining one I noticed was loose while cleaning and was going to look at fixing better. Does anyone know a part number or at least what it would be called and where would be best to source one?

Thanks in advance.

HI, you should be getting onto the dealer that sold you the car about the leaks, my intial thoughts would be sunroof drains.

I think the part you are looking for is 'Cover Trim- Right' 3V0 807 834 B F9R, but check first with your dealer to be 100%, it's about £25.00.

Spoke to the dealer this morning and they want the car for a couple of days to investigate. Unfortunately, the earliest they can get it in and offer me a courtesy vehicle is 2 weeks time. As this is our only car and needed daily a courtesy car is essential.

Thanks for the part number, found online for around 30 euro so will ask the dealer about supplying one.

Best not let them stretch out dealing with the Poor Preparation of their Skoda Approved Used cars.

They need to get a hire car if they have not enough courtesy cars,  or one of the Demonstrators that the Staff are using as daily drives which Skoda UK still own or they have for 3 months / 3,000 miles before getting the Tax Break on when sold as Ex Demonstrator / Management.

Their Vallaters can get the car dry before frosts.  Or they can bring in someone.

Don’t take any of their bullsh1te. They need to get leak sorted the carpets out and dried asap.
As for the “courtesy” (rental) car, if they don’t have one, they can rent one or the Sales, Service or General Manager should give-up their demo car. Jesus, the complete lack of customer service from dealers these days beggar belief and that’s why I’ve dumped using them and have used a great local independent for the past two years.
