New Phones...

Featured Replies

I managed to get the N80 a couple of days after it came out, really liking the phone, pictures and video are fantastic for a phone. I do loads of texting and ive never had any problems with the keys or anything else. I at the time managed to get mine on orange, on a £30 month tarrif with 200 anytime mins and 1000 messages. The handset price was originally £150, but they gave me £100 credit for taking in an old hand set that i payed a fiver for from a mate. I have to say some of the features on the camera are amazing and have allowed me to get some fantastic shots that with a normal camera phone would be difficult to get.

The Nokia N80 is a great phone apart from the battery life as Ant said.

Other than that the phone will do exactly what you want, wireless access, bluetooth and the camera is excellent (3.2 Megapixels) with a good flash and a macro feature.

The MP3 player is reasonable and the phone can take up to 2 GB on a miniSD card (ordered one on Sunday ;) .

The wifi isnt as easy to use as you would imagine and I was initially disappointed with it but I am happy now it's working properly.

Another downer is that the phone is not very "pocket friendly" as it's fairly chunky and is very obvious when in the pocket of a pair of jeans for example.

The Symbian OS is very easy to use yet feature packed.

So far the phone has been fairly stable and has only crashed the once. The menu speed is much improved over older Symbian phones, I had a 3230 and the menu access was woefully slow.

You also need to use the provided dongle to allow the use of a standard set of cans but thats not a major problem.

The screen is extremely good quality.

POP3 is good as per usual, I use it to access three accounts (Yahoo, Gmail and the company one) and it works flawlessly.

If you get one, make sure you use the power save function or it will nag you about a flat battery just after lunchtime if you decide to use it to call someone!

What a nightmare; mini nightmare this is...

Why for the love of god can't it just be simple. There are way to many gimicks on the market today.

First off, told I can have N80 for free, now I can't, then it's free with 3mths half rental now it's 110 quid as it's a 550 quid handset. hang on I said, it's only 450, oh yes your right; great so thats 10 pounds for the handset then...erm no.

argh right how do I cancel.

Phone up cpw; can I get this deal on your website in store today?

yes.

Great I'll be over in a minute, hang on he says, can get you the sek on 275 minutes 12 months with 11 months half price...I'm there.

Now it takes me

So then they tried to sell me o2 so I could keep my number and after everything then pushed insurance again. I swear people have zero memory for what the customer has stated.

To top it all, it would cost me approx 175 quid more to "renew" my contract than to get a new one on the same network and tarrif...it's barmy!

The one positive is I found a cracking site; can get the sek800i for avg 20 quid a month and 275 mins, some cash back scam...hence I go back to the above comment; way to many gimmicks; can it not just be x pounds a month and be done with it, worse than a game of 3 dimensional risk.

Fancy a N70 on its own Col? No messing about with new tariffs or ignorant sales assistants ;)Mine for sale

I agree, it's an absolute minefield. I used to work for the Link! :sofahide: - thankfully I'm in the position now that my o2 contract of 4yrs still suits me fine, and I've been able at each upgrade juncture to snaffle the handset I've wanted from under their greedy noses...

Steve

Buy the N80. Embrace the gimmicks and the pointless technology. I bought a 6600 3 years ago for £300 SIM free, got a 7610 last year for £70. Now for the first time I've upgraded my Tariff (6 years on an old Genie Tariff - no GPRS or MMS and 40p a minute mobile to mobile calls!) and paid 170 quid for the N80. More than if I cancelled and got a new contract with o2. But the way I see it is that the N80 will last me the 18 months of the new contract and hopefully longer. I decided ages ago I can't live without Bluetooth on the phone and due to teh N80 I'm starting to think that I'll feel the same about Wi-Fi in a few months.

I survived 6 years without ever needing to send Picture messages. Now I'm dishing them out willy-nilly. So just because you don't use half the features a phone has doesn't mean you won't/can't.

Once TomTom release Navigator for Symbian 60v3 The N80 will be the best phone I've owned. Not perfect by any means, but it one of those things that now I have, if I downgraded to any other phone I'd feel hard done by. It's got all the complicated bits that just become easy once you've figured them out.

Although the Gallery is absolutely pants compared to my 7610.
