Skoda Fabia thermostat change

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding changing the thermostat if my Skoda Fabia Combi I 2006 (6Y5). I tried to do it but honestly didn't manage to find the thermostat itself. I searched for some guides on YouTube and from Google and so on but it seems they are showing different models even though they state it's for Fabia 6Y5. Some says that I need to remove the alternator to find the thermostat underneath, some says I have to shifter lever and another one says about vacuum reservoir in front of the engine but it's not even there so absolutely different model. Would you please guide. Thanks in advance!

What engine?

1.4 gasoline engine. Here's how it looks.

Ok, the thermostat is under the big cover between the battery and the engine, simply pull off the big cover which contains the air filter and look down in the gap and you'll see a black plastic housing bolted to the side of the engine, this contains the thermostat.

Because these housings often leak it's best to replace the entire assembly with a new thermostat and gasket.

I would like thank you so much. I located it correctly. My car has an issue that heating doesn't work well even though engine temperature reaches 90C it still blows cold air for some time, hopefully thermostat change will get the issue solved.
