Hi everybody- it's tonetheteach here.

I hope someone can help me. I have looked at lots of nearly new cars. The criteria is it has to be diesel and automatic. After looking at Volkswagons,Saabs, Seats and even BMW's I have decided on a nearly new Skoda Octavia.

The choice now is L&K with its leather interior and extra electrics not forgetting its rarity or do I simply choose the elegance model which is much easier to come by and slightly cheaper?

Can someone also help me by advising which leather colour is best and which matches really well with exterior colours?

Can't help on which model to choose; I have a Fabia and am no expert. Good luck finding the right car - I guess a lot does depend on luck as to what's available and what sort of deal you are offered. I'm sure our more knowledgeable members will understand the comparable qualities

Re leather colour: Have you had chance to browse as there are a fair few threads on here. The bottom line seems to be that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The only thing I'd mention is that it's possible to keep white clean, though with some effort apparently.

If you really fancy the leather but are struggling to find an L&K (or can find an Elegance cheaper), you can always consider having the Elegance seats recovered in leather.

Quite a few on here have used Seat Surgeons. This thread suggests the price for an Octy is

Have you checked the Skoda used car web site?

There are a handful of L&Ks and loads of Elegance models to chose from. There are plenty of used Elegance models with leather seats.

I had leather in my Elegance (black) which was very nice. The only thing I did notice was that the door panels stained if you managed to get them wet, ie driving in the rain with the window open (im weird like that)

If you are looking to buy a car from the Skoda network have a good look around, you may be lucky enough to find one with a few more extras for not much more money. I bought mine (sport model) as an ex demo and managed to find one with sat nav, dual climate control, xenons and privacy glass, all for the same price as those without, it did mean travelling though.
