Bluetooths range?

Featured Replies

Can you only send stuff via bluetooth to someone local?

Sorry but I'm fairly new to all this business. I have only received stuff via bluetooth when i've been literally standing next to the person who is sending.

Your's faithfully

Range is usually about 10 metres.

I don't suppose I could extend my quest for knowledge and ask for any ideas of another way to send a ring tone to someone far far away thats held in my music file? I have tried sending it by multimedia message but my darn phone is having none of it I tell thee

You can get BT dongles etc with 100m range but as already said BT range on a phone is about 10m if you are lucky.

How about if I put it onto my pc via my dongle and sent it as a file via msn or something. Would that work do you think?

Edit..... I almost sound like I know what I'm talking about

if you can connect your phone and browse the folder its in on the phone save and mail it but depending on compatability it may not work are you using a nokia

I have a Nokia 6230i, I have never used the email or internet on it. It seemed like too much hassle to get it set up

have you got the phone manager program if so u can use that to browse the phone

Class I = 100m in ideal conditions

Class II - 10m in ideal conditions

Microwaves, wireless lan and cordless phones will cause interference as they all use the same frequency bands as bluetooth and so will reduce the data rate you can attain due to frequency hopping to avoid the interference.

That's the easiest way to do it imho. If I want to transfer something, I just plug my phone into my PC (or use Bluetooth to the laptop) and then once it's on the hard drive then you can use the internet to distribute it :D
