Petrol or Diesel

Featured Replies

Just about to place an order for new company car which is looking like a vrs.Question is do I go for the petrol or wait for the new 170bhp diesel.Does anyone have any info on the 170 vrs yet due in Oct 06 I'm told.

November, but if past experiences with lauch dates is anything to go by you'll probably looking at early 2007!.

Depends on the mileage you do and your budget as a 2.0TDi vRS will probably be more expensive than the Petrol vRS. The 2 cars have different characteristics too as the vRS has nice smooth power delivery which peaks out at the higher revs whereas the TDI delivers power in big lumps all in an and arounf the 2000-2500 rpm range.

I recommend you test drive the petrol vRS and then try a 2.0TDi 140 Octy for comparison. It's seems that apart from the 0-60 capability and maybe a slighty higher top speed, the 170 delivers no tangable improvment

I've been told by a dealer they should have one in in august/sept time.

Have asked to know when it's in :):D

VW dealers should have 170 bhp TDI demo Golfs, etc. to give you a feel for driving behind that lump.

Can't afford one but will deffinately be going for a test drive.... lets me see what mine would be like chipped as revo don't do trials on diesels

Depending on how good the vRS TDI is it will either be an estate as a definate Q car or a PD140 elegance.
