can anyone tell me what the official performance figures for the vrs are, ie. the 30-50 and 30-70 increments? I know the 0-60 is 7.9 secs but the vrs is probably faster in gear than many which can claim a better 0-60.

I haven't got the official figures but these are the autocar test results:

Are you talking about Mk1 or 2, I'm assuming Mk1 as you quote 7.9 to 60mph.

Mk1

0-60 = 6.7, 0-100 = 16.7, 30-70 = 6.3, 50-70= 9.1

Mk2

0-60 = 6.6, 0-100= 17.3, 30-70= 6.3, 50-70 = 7.7

What surprises me is how close the 2 are. I believe you're right in that the Mk1 was officially quoted as 7.9 to 60 mph.

I think the Mk1 that Autocar tested had been breathed on:eek: :) somewhat. Not sure exactly but sure someone on here will advise.

Yeah, coming to think of it I've seen some posts to that effect on this forum.

Those figures seem far too good to be true.
