I have the same problem - Mine is a 150 front wheel drive. It's fine until towing uphill, the temps fly up.
I know you can get the conversion but no one seems to want to tell me the parts needed. Front dual fan is one.

Have you had any success yet?

I have installed this: https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-front-mounted-engine-oil-cooler-kit-for-2-0-tdi-mk7-platform-engines.html

Without towing oil temp. approximately 10C lower.

If you have an OEM first mount tow bar, then your Superb is fitted with a dual fan to vent the coolant radiator.
This can be checked easily. 😉

BTW, do they both blow when necessary?
A fan failure could also be a cause of your high temps… 🤔

Both blow 😊

I think the engine is pushed by the remap way over and adding a caravan is killing it.

Reputable tunner in my country said to me there is little room to remap this engine (wich I also have) safely and reliable.

His advice was for best reliability was:"don't do it" or max 205 HP if you really want

I have heard many opinions on this from many experts. I guess it does affect temp. However 98% of driving no issues. I have now fitted external cooler. Temp 10C lower. Hope this will do the trick.

Interesting, mine is a 2020 2.0D DSRA (evo) engine (just 150hp) with factory ordered/fitted towbar and the rad just has a single fan - another little change on certain newer motors?

Hi - I posted this a day ago - seems I am in the same boat - did you ever get it resolved? thanks - Alex

Hi - my Octavia 2.0 tdi (remap to 190) dsg auto estate 2014 70k seems to struggle towing my 1100kg caravan. Any slight incline @ 57 mph puts the oil temp up to 140+. The coolant remains rock solid, and on the level the oil temp towing is around 130. Non towing its around 115.

I have had the intercooler changed, gearbox oil changed, also the oil temp sensor, but am lost as to why it seems to be running so hot when under load. Is this normal is my question? If not - any suggestions please

I have towed two differed caravans with it, so know that the caravan weight is around the 1100kg - yesterday it was 5c outside and still managed to hit 143C on the m4 at 57mph - not even a big incline

So, I got the double fan and added it. Made a world of difference. Don't get me wrong, the oil temp still goes up a little, but not as much. Dead easy to change! I think mine came off an Audi A3 and fitted in 15min.

Thank you - Sounds like a relatively low cost option to start? Do you remember which year / model A3 fits please?

I just got part number - 3Q0121205. If you ebay this loads come up! My car is a 2018 150tdi but they should be the same.
