Hi All,

 

I have recently inherited a 2015 Skoda Fabia from my late Grandad, at current it has the Bolero (I think) 5Q0035820. I have been told in order to get Android Auto I should upgrade this to the 5Q0035842.

 

To do this is the only thing I need to change the box behind the glovebox or do I need to change the screen as well.

 

Additionally I have found a listing for a 5Q0035842B from a Skoda Octavia, am I correct in thinking this will work in my Fabia.

You need either Bolero 5Q0035842x / 565035842 or Amundsen (with built-in OEM sat nav) 5Q0035874x / 565035874 (plus SD card with maps and GPS antenna). It's not possible to activate Android Auto officially, new unit must be patched and then personalized to your car's equipment.

 

I can deliver such unit, either Bolero or Amundsen, in Plug&Play version. If you are interested pls contact me on PM.

@pab567 I have a 2016 Fabia SE L with Bolero Part Number: 5Q0035820, Hardware: H11 and Software: 0138 which only has (now defunct) Mirrorlink connectivity.

My steering wheel has all the voice control buttons etc so I'd like to be able to use the full Android Auto as the screen feels fairly redundant without Mirrorlink or AA

 

Firstly do you still have such patched/coded units available and secondly, how difficult are they to install? Also as OP asked is it a case of just replacing the glovebox unit and/or the screen unit?

It's quite easy, all you need is torx T20 screwdriver and 2 removal keys. 30 minutes work.

It's just the question of replacing glove box unit (infotainment reader), display unit replacement is not necessary.

Couldn't PM you due to site restrictions. I have Fabia Mk3, which has the Swing headunit. Would it be possible to retrofit a Bolero infotainment system to patch Andorid auto. I was not sure if the swing system has the glovebox components that the bolero unit have. Thanks, your extensive interactions on this topic was very useful.

I also have Fabia with I think its SWING. No bluetooth, just radio with display. Also no steering wheel controls.

I would really like to replace it with something that can get bluetooth connection. android auto would be great also :)
