Your experience with the need for specs following cataract ops is exactly the same as both my fiancee and brother; no specs needed for distance but needed for reading etc.

Apparently they are supposed to ask if you want to have corrected close vision or distance vision - but I've not met anyone who was asked this question and they just assumed that corrected distance vision was wanted.

I had one done in 2019-20 (turn of the century injury coming back to bite me), and I was asked if I had a preference. They also said distance is the default and most common request.

Just to let you know that the reflectors can be easily overload on the MK3 (non-FL) cars with Halogen bulbs.....you can go up to 130% bulbs, but 200% bulbs will be insane, and you will constantly be flashed and will just cause refractions and reflections everywhere....

Overloaded as in just too much light bouncing around, rather then heat?

Absolutely correct. Heat is less of a consideration, but obviously higher intensity bulbs will operate hotter. It's less of a concern here in Blighty/ Northern Europe

I upgraded to 150 bulbs a few years back and did a thread abiut the comparison.

Ive just had one of the bulbs blow for the first time since I fitted them so they have lasted well. As I still had the old bulbs I refitted one to get me by and to be honest I cant tell any difference with the side housing the brighter bulb.

So from my experience I'll just stick with a standard h7 bulb.

Cheers
