I've replaced the multimedia unit, with another, from a different vehicle, will this work, and, if so, how ?

Need to know a lot more:

- it appears you have a 2019 Octavia (is this correct?)

- what model of infotainment unit was fitted? Swing, Amundsen, Columbus, ...

- do you have Canton?

- what vehicle did the unit you have fitted come from (make, model and year)?

- what model of infotainment unit is it?

Almost certainly not. The car's body control module will presume that the "new" ICE has been stolen until it is provided with a code number.

The use of a code was removed many years ago and replaced with component protection (which can only be removed by a dealer or an independent with online access to the VAG servers).
