Timing belt repalcement interval for Karoq 1 litre petrol, manual gearbox. Is it 5 years or 10 years?

Neither, Skoda UK used to say 5 years but have recently fallen into line with the rest of the world and now only recommend inspections at an interval I can't remember.

@Rooted always has the correct information!

If it is the rubber timing belt IIRC since July 2023 VW / VWSkoda finally put the UK with Europe and said every 15 years or 180000 miles whichever comes first, annual check perhaps, and this refers to the belt only.

Now, I've no idea if Skoda Ireland might still be playing money-grabbers and still on the former VW / VWSkoda UK schedule for the purposes of their revenues and profits rather than looking after their customers' properly, who'd have thought it from VW.

Thank you for your information. As it happens, one main dealer told me the timing belt and water pump needed replacement a year ago with mileage at 44,000kms. The dealer said that the coolant level had dropped and this was indicative of water pump failure. I did not proceed because I thought that at 40,000 kms to have to replace both timing belt and water pump at a cost in excess of €600 each, was an enormous expense for a low mileage car. So I bought a container of coolant, incase I needed it, hoped for the best on the timing belt with a view to doing it this year, and in the past year have driven  15,000 kms with no drop in coolant level, no overheating of the engine even on very long journeys, so I brought this to the attention of the dealer this year and he has refused to discuss it.

Another dealer, the one I bought the car from, has confirmed my view on the water pump and is telling me that the timing belt is not due for replacement until 210,000kms or 10 ears whichever comes first. That is music to my ears.

Much obliged for contributions. I think I have lost confidence now in the first dealer and will not use him again.
