Updating infotainment software

Recommended Posts

Hi

So I just bought a 2nd hand 2022 octavia and what I'm assuming is an outdated software (shown in the attached pictures). Meaning that I've come across the infamous android auto connectivity

problem with my Samsung s23+.

I've done some research and and found that the version 1800 fixes this issue.  Other than taking it to the dealer, how can I update it myself to the latest software and fix the issue seeing as when I press update software nothing shows up.

Thanks

If it's a very low number it needs to visit the dealer to have two upgrades, one to take it upto 18xx, then another from 18xx to 19xx, but I think it also depends on the radio/infotainment system fitted.

I managed to take it to the dealer in the end and they updated it to 1805 claiming that it was the latest software available for my 2022 octavia. But it did fix the android auto issue with my S23+ though!

You're thinking of MOI3. This is MEN3, it uses completely different software 🙂. 1805 is currently the latest for this system

None of it makes any sense to me. I think I have MIB2.5 - It's a 2020 Superb in SE Technology trim but I could be wrong.

In case anyone reads this in the future, Skoda want £99 diagnostic fee and £158 to download a software patch if required.

You can get updates here for DIY, for considerably less 🙂

It's worth noting some versions should NOT be DIY updated, as they have other dependencies.

I take it yours was done under warranty. Mine is not in warranty, bought it 2nd hand 3.5 years old.

it was done under warranty, yes. So ended up not paying anything for it. But i did come across a couple of things before taking it to the dealer that might help you.

Putting in your SW train in here should tell you what the latest software for your system and provide a download link for it.

Also, there's an old thread on the Skoda Scala forums where people mention they updated their softwares themselves. I know it's for a different car and system but maybe it this might help.

I haven't tried it myself but people on there seem to have done it with no issues so would have to tell you to try it at your own risk.

Hope this helps and saves you taking it to the dealer and paying that ridiculous amount!

The guys at East yorkshire suggested that I shouldn't do this one DIY because it needs multiple resets. I live in Cardiff and they're not much cheaper than Skoda doing it. Not once you factor in the petrol to Yorkshire and back anyway.

I'm booked in for April and they'll be doing a HV battery seal recall fix at the same time 🤷‍♂️

Once updated you'll be missing a feature enablement code for predictive navigation functionality, which would break your navigation, PACC and TSR (if equipped).  This is why it requires visiting a specialist/main dealer. The update is also designed to be carried out alongside multiple telematics module updates, which aren't DIY 🙂

Our price was for all of the available updates on the vehicle, a main dealer will only carry out the updates you meet the criteria for based on your complaints. The hybrid battery seal is something that definitely needs doing though!
