Yes all the dealers needed to do to add the menu was run software configuration on the BCM however even such a basic task seems to complex for them

Where have you connected the canbus? Where have you connected the power? Where have you connected the ground? I'm referring to connecting to the car not the control module Send a message with your VIN

So it doesn't communicate? Or it does? Can wiring is at the BCM Power from the fusebox Ground in the luggage compartment

Module requires parameterisation & coding Vehicle needs configuration to suit the towbar install Wiring is all done at the BCM on your car, aside from the ground in the luggage area

Trailer prep makes no difference in this case If you can get your dealer to perform any outstanding software update campaigns prior then we’d consider it

VWAG need to sort their backend out & push their dealers to perform updates. Nothing we can do but wait I’m afraid We’ve given it multiple chances and finally had to call it

They're fitting third party towbars which aren't integrated with the vehicle. Using a "bypass kit" meaning the Engine, gearbox, ADAS etc does not know you're towing. Warranty issues ADAS issues Insurance issues in the case of an accident It could be, they could also release an update campaign tomorrow meaning it no longer is

Installation instructions state perform all outstanding update campaigns before adapting towbar Impossible to adapt without performing updates Updates take 3-5 hours assuming they run properly (they rarely do). This is lost time to us. Support/factory state dealers should perform the updates under warranty. Dealers claim "it's up to date" The last Kodiaq we had in took over 40 man hours to update & adapt - in addition to the time taken to install the parts, it's not financially viable for us

We've currently put a stop on all UNECE R155 R156 towbar retrofits. We've had nothing but issues with the diagnostic system and it's not fair on our customers or us. We may resume once VWAG sort their act out

You're (fortunately) incorrect. It is NOT a protected/licensed feature

We can supply & fit a genuine electric folding towbar with a 2 year main dealer warranty and 13 pin electrics. The installation is recorded against the cars build data, it's the same towbar they install from the factory.

They're very very delicate (a downgrade from the previous generation in this respect)

We'd be happy to take a look at this for you, there's not an awful lot you can do yourself in this case (nor would I advise you try)

Just because the infotainment system is up to date (and fairly bug free) unfortunately that doesn’t mean the rest of the car is 🥲😅 If it’s a fairly infrequent issue then I’d live with it, if it’s happening a lot then we’d be happy to take a look
