Wear and tear level - corrosion

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, first time post here, so thanks in advance.

I’m looking at a second hand ŠKODA but viewing it and inspecting around the chassis it seemed like high wear and tear and some corrosion -  see photos - is this an acceptable level of wear and tear for a used car with 40k miles?

looks like corrosion on bolts - is that normal and cosmetic for Skodas or a sign of heavy use / salt water.

Thanks!

Welcome.

Pretty common for cars from any manufacturers but where a car lives and drives can make a lot of difference.

Seaside, areas where there is more salting / gritting of roads.

Sometimes cars that get cleaned / steam cleaned underneath look worse than ones that get a bit of protection with some greasy / protective coating applied.

?

Where was this car first registered and any idea of where it was living?

?

How does the Service History look of stuff actually that has been done?

PS

Is not every car that has done 40,000 miles being used to drive on roads?

The difference is maybe sits around lots doing nothing and then gets used occasionally.

Covid years, or the past year.

Thanks for the quick answer. Car was from south east - Maidstone so maybe near coast? It’s not a private buy so hard to get more detail than that I’m afraid.

I was mainly worried about sea water/salt and higher level of wear, but from what you’re saying this isn’t an unusual level.
