Hi everyone.

My car started this festive problem out of nowhere and now it's undriveable.

It starts alright and in like 2 minutes goes off.

Any ideas what to check?

The PAS being disabled suggests low voltage, check the battery voltage before and after starting the car.

Indeed, PAS requires a healthy battery as the alternator usually can't supply enough current at idle when turning the steering quickly at low speed or stood. Visible clue is with headlights on and turn the steering wheel when stood, the headlights go noticeably dimmer before the PAS cuts out.

It’s the battery change it

If it's the battery try fully recharging it with an appropriate battery charger (not fast charge) this may take a good number of hours so you need time and patience - or as above if you can't be bothered or really do not have the time to fully recharge then buy a new battery and try not to let it get in such a low state of charge in future or you might flog it to death again.

1st thing to do is check the main battery terminals are tight and not become loose.

Seen an electrician, it was actually the battery, thanks all

@dorix thanks for reporting back.  So often is the battery, despite many still not accepting the possibility, but it also shows it is best always to start with the basics before moving on, in fact you usually cannot successfully carry out further diagnostics without first checking the basics.  Some unscrupulous tradesmen rely on the basics not being checked to make money out of stuff owners could do for themselves (if the owner wants to that is).

 

Nice easy fix is to fully recharge the battery but if you have left it too late then a new battery and something learnt for the future to prevent it happening again.
