Virtual Cockpit Screen Scratches

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've just purchased a late 2019 L&K with virtual cockpit. When the screen is off there  light scratches on the matt screen that are very visible. Has anyone recovered from a similar situation? Either replaced some part or applied matt acreen protection from a tablet?

Or should I just burn the car to the ground?

I suspect it's were a previous owner has stood the phone whilst driving.

The picture below gives the idea.

The screens are so fragile and even using a wet cloth on them has irrecoverably damaged them before.

Not much that can be done about it sadly, unless you can find a replacement display and get it swapped over

I fitted a screen protector a soon as I picked up the car as I know how fragile they can be

Did the screen protector you applied mask any of the existing marks?

Would you have a link for the one you got? And maybe pictures of your handy work 😁

I was fortunate there were no existing scratches, unfortunately i think whatever you apply won't mask the scratches

That is terrible! How can the VC not have a decent transparent protection screen?

Jeez that’s like someone has keyed your car but on the inside.

If that was my car I’d try something like maguires ultimate compound but do it lightly and see if it helps and preferably in a corner as a test

It's ok, mine is not as bad as that. Jist have some marks where a phone has been placed a number of time's.

The example picture I used was from a Golf 😉

Just a quick update. When I first poste this issue i tried searching for a screen protector for my Virtual Cockpit screen, but no luck.

Yesterday I rechecked and found 2 places doing them.

Innovative Paint Protection Solutions had what I needed. Just waiting for it to arrive now!

Also found Grizz Protector but no shipping to me.

Will update on installation.

Hey,

Any news, updates if the protective film worked or not?

Hi,

The screen protector definitely worked and did good job of masking 90% of the marks. It gives it a slightly more matt finish, and is easier to clean with out further risk of scratching.
