"Haldex" service on a front WD RS

Featured Replies

Hi Al1,,

We've had a NZ new 2022 RS in for its second service and it seems a "Haldex service" was carried out, not that this was pointed out to us at the time of the job card being gone over with us... (that's another story).

I think this is a terminology problem as my googling tells me that a "Haldex" unit is only applicable to a four wheel drive variant.

The dealer told us that the RS does have a "Haldex" unit on the front diff.

But I've also read about the "FRONT VAQ E DIFF LOCK LSD" which is very similar to "Haldex"

Is this what they mean but they use "Haldex" to simplify things (which didn't work for me lol)?

Thanks,

Hi,

This is exactly what they mean, yes. Would be much better if they use "differential" terminology than "Haldex".

Haldex is not very similar in any way, shape or form to a VAQ differential.

Definitely the wrong use of terminology.

Probably an incompetent ticking the wrong box and then a competent BS'er denying the mistake.
