TPMS

Featured Replies

That will be the extreme heat creating steam when keeping to UK max speed limit of 60 mph, or maybe the 70 mph.

Or the corroding of there alloys where the sun don't shine.

OT,.

We used to put Water in the rear tyres of some Offroaders and some plant tyres / or in the tubes.

Horrible when it froze.

We never used Anti-freeze in there....

Anyway, horses for courses.

Then for another reason we used to use Balance beads rather than wheel weights.  Offroaders also used to do road miles.

They were good as stopping there being much rusting of the steel wheels.

Have you set up an account and become primary user?

I've seen what you describe happen if there are no users registered and only a Guest account.

Interesting. I have set up and account, I am primary user, I can access the car remotely using the Skoda Connect App. However despite setting up an S-PIN it doesn't remember  and repeatedly asks me to set up an S-PIN again, which I do. SO perhaps my account is not not correctly linked. It did take many attempts to get it set up. I will try deleting myself and starting again.

@logiclee Thanks for you information, I think it has enabled me  to solve the problem. I started the Karoq and instead of  press OK as Primary User I selected Change User to Guest, the TPMS Set pressures screen was displayed so I pressed SET and then Confirm - Tyre Pressures Saved. Switched off and then switched on again and changed back to Primary user. No TPMS screen displayed, drove somewhere stopped switched off , got out locked car. Came back started car no TPMS screen displayed , drove back home parked and locked car. Left the car 2 hours then started it and no TPMS screen displayed.

I mentioned in one of my replies above that this happened most times but not everytime I started the Karoq. I think I may have worked out what it is.

Sometimes when I started the car I would press OK to the Primary User profile most times though I just drove away, I assumed it had automatically accepted the OK for the profile. now I think it didn't have a Profile loaded and wanted the Tyre pressures set. I suspect that on the few  occasions when I pressed OK the TPMS screen was not displayed because I had previously successfully stored tyre pressures.

My current theory is that TYPMS tyre pressure data needs to be saved for  both Primary User and the Guest user, and if you dont OK Primary and dont change to Guest you will be asked to provide TPMS tyre  pressures  because to continue driving without providing that information would mean the TPMS couldn't function correctly. I will verify this over the next few days.

I'm beginning to get the impression most people don't think this is a good idea.  Well all my Karoq tyres were substantially down recently all by more or less the same amount, presumably why TPMS didn't register it and I do also recall that my nitrogen inflated Yeti tyres some years ago stayed near the same pressure for quite a while, which was convenient - no ride improvement but wasn't expecting it.  A quick Googling did reveal that most non tyre fitting sites agree with most of you that Nitrogen is not worth the bother, even though one such site did go on to say that Nitrogen only filled tyres naturally deflate substantially less than ordinary air filled tyres.

£5 a scam - doesn't sound like much of one to me and I can't actually see how Kwik fit (think it was them) actually made any money out of me on this, with the time my Yeti was blocking off a tyre fitting bay + the admin & paperwork it created, when they could have been making much more money fitting new tyres to the numerous customers who were also waiting that day.  Anyway maybe enough on Nitrogen, it was only meant as a passing remark.

What a crock of s***e, its a bloomin car, a means of getting from A to B and not a games console

That wasn't aimed at you by the way but at the stupidity of these new vehicles and their complications.

Why should who is driving the vehicle matter to a tyre pressure monitoring system? If a tyre deflates it should bring up a warning, what is the point of any new or unidentified driver resetting the system?

I see no reason why tyre pressure is tied in with users so I agree.

For thamestrader.  If you tell the car that S-Pin isn't required for primary user then it won't ask every time you get in. It will tie the login to the key.  For example when I get it it doesn't ask which user or for an S-Pin it just says "Welcome Logiclee"

Saves all the hassle.

+++UPDATE+++

Having saved TPMS setting for Primary and Guest the TPMS screen no longer pops up when starting the KAroq.

Hi J.R.

I've calculated the difference between you tyre size (when new) and the difference is around 4.9%. That is quire a lot. I thought that the tyre sizes should be within 3% or else the system complains because the front and rear wheels are spinning at different speeds and that would upset the traction control.

I drove my skoda scala with 185/60R15 (winter tyres) on the front and 205/55r16 ('summer') on the rear and the traction control threw a wobbly, the car went into limp mode and when I witched off traction control the engine control light went on and despite resetting the tyre pressure or waiting for the engine warning to reset itself it always cam back on and limp mode. so my scala did not like a 4.8% size difference at all. The reason why I had 2 different tyre size was that I was waiting for my tyre supplier to get the right size of winter tyres.
