Rear seat belt wont click in.

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

Got a 2016 superb. One of the rear belts won't click in place. Can't see anything in it that would stop it from working. Buckle is fine. Tried wd40 but no joy. Anyone had this and sorted it please? If not I'll have to look into replacing it.

Thanks

Adrian.

Hi,

Is it the original one or has it been replaced?

Indeed, I had bought belt extenders when I had child seats and they couldn’t click in center buckle On non OEM buckle, the shape of the metallic part may be different.

Centre buckle might be different, is the OP perhaps incorrectly trying to use the centre locking receiver for a passenger on either side?

It's easy to do if you are leaning over someone to buckle them in or of they are corpulent and trying to secure themselves as they may be sitting on the reciever they require.

Apologies for no longer recalling the name of the seatbelt fixed part.

It's the rear drivers side being a problem. Found it out last night when someone tried to do it up. Passed an MOT in march so assume it was ok then. It's the original. Very strange.

Have you tried looking inside with a torch? Might be something has fallen inside

I'm going to look in a while. I've taken the seat base out, then I'll unbolt the thing and take it indoors. I've looked in the car and can't see anything obvious. Not sure if it's something that can be opened. Or if that's a good idea given how important it is.

Shake it to death :D

It's sorted. Was a piece of glass lodged in it from when my window broke last year.

I did end up taking the casing off though but it's back together ok. Getting the seat base out and back in was the most awkward bit.

Nice result that from an unfortunate circumstance :) 😞
