Traction control light and glow plug light

Recommended Posts

I have a 2009 Skoda fabia scout . 1.4tdi

It's drives fine , I've had it about 5 years .

Every now and again the traction control light comes on . And the glow plug starts to flash on the dashboard.

The engine still runs , but I have no power at all . Foot on accelerator does nothing . But if I turn off the ignition and restart the car all is fine . Does anyone have any idea what it is ?

You have an intermittent engine fault. As @Simon TDI Sport says, read fault codes when the glow plug light is on.

I've taken it to my local garage. They put it on the computer. Could not find any faults . They disconnected my battery for a manual reset . I suppose I need a fault code reader so I can see when it happens again . Thank for your help .

VCDS Lite, which is the freeware version you can download from ross-tech.com, will work on your car for reading/clearing fault codes.

All you need is a laptop with USB port and a cheap (<£20) FTDI/KKL cable to connect it to the diagnostic port.
