Hi there

i have a 22 plate Octavia, and now have selector lever, you can continue driving but speak garage, unfortunately car is out of warranty and the local garage want £150 just to tell me what problem is, does anybody know what is fault or how to repair/renew

Is there not a 3 year manufacturers warranty to 2025?

(22 plate from 1st March 2022)

 

Could you say which Octavia Mk4, engine and gearbox.

 

Is it maybe the issue that you will find in one of these threads.   There is a cheap fix and a not so cheap fix.

Sorry it’s the 2.0 Dsg model and has 70,000 miles so no warranty

What has 2.0lt DSG and 70K got to do with no Warranty ? I always thought Skoda was a three year unlimited warranty

First two years are unlimited mileage, then 60k for the third year.

Mine never got anywhere near 70k before developing this fault. Had it done under warranty but apparently a 4 hour job. My local dealer has a long lead time and they were happy for me to drive around with the fault for about 5 weeks I think. Probably did a 2k in that time.

What needed repairing? I’ve had this pop up this morning. So aggravating. 

Not sure. Think it was a new leaver, not sure if anything else. I did see a post where someone had this done and there was resulting damage to the centre console, which the dealer denied was their fault. I took some pics of mine before the work just in case 

Mines in the garage for this today, hopefully covered under the extended warranty!

I've been told the fault requires the gear selector mechanism replacing as its not communicating with the gear box properly. 4-5 hour job so being booked back in for a few weeks time. Approved under skoda extended warranty. 

Just had car in Skoda Dealer today, paid

£156 for diagnostics then to be told its the Gear Lever Mechanism cost of repair is £1035.48

As usual, known issue so Skoda should contribute. If your workshop does not want to hear about that, contact Skoda directly.

My gear selector has been replaced today under the extended warranty, will see how i get on however on first impressions it is silent selecting drive and switching between normal and sport on the gearbox. I'm sure it has always made a buzzing noise when switching or selecting drive although I've had the error a while now so can't be 100% sure. 

Just had selector replaced by Skoda unfortunately not under warranty, costing £1035.00, warning light off
