Interchangeable parts?

Featured Replies

Hi I’ve recently acquired a Sept 2008 Roomster 2 16V auto and have just learnt that the nearside front suspension is accident damaged! I’ve seen a whole suspension leg  for sale inc shock, driveshaft etc off a 2008 Fabia for sale, can anyone please confirm, are they exactly the same? Many thanks , Pete

Quite unlikely to be exactly the same, but quite possibly 'same enough'.

Compare visible part number stickers on struts, and coloured paint splodges on springs.

If your part numbers or splodges aren't readily visible, send me your VIN and I can look up what your existing part numbers/colours are.

i would imagine the load rating would be different on the Roomster to the fabia? given its a heavier vehicle? like the age old golf suspension fits an octy but it wont sit or ride quite right?

Thanks for the responses, thats encouraging I’ll post the vin tomorrow.

VIN way is best, as you won't get wrong parts and what I've learn in my short time in Briskoda is that Breezy_Pete really knows these cars!

I've tried to figure these differences out too, and as a rule of thumb I'd like to say that only Fabias with the bigger brakes (with 1.6 petrol engine, or some other models too?) have same front suspension parts as Roomster. Have I understood that correctly?

On the V5 lists as a Roomster 2 16v 105 A

TMBMD65J195015097

the suspension upright for sale on is off a 2008 Fabia and listed as 2008-2012  Fabia/roomster/polo

will this work?

thanks.

I will look up the relevant info shortly. Haven't quite made it out of bed yet. 😀

PM me a link to the listing if possible,  there may be some useful info in photos.

Sorry for slow response, partner got hold of me for a succession of "I just need you to..."s

The spring does appear to be a match for yours, with red, yellow, yellow paint splodges (you should be able to check that by jacking up that corner of yours for a look).

Can't read the label on the  shock absorber, so can't tell you anything about that except that yours should be 6Q0413031BL, if original factory fit.

That pictured strut is from a car with FS111 brakes (you can see it cast into the outer face of caliper), which yours are not, so the wheel bearing housing which everything bolts up to is different, having integrated brake carriers.  Yours has a separate brake carrier part, not interchangeable.

Not going to be useful to you.

Thats really kind of you. I’ll search for another. Thanks, Pete

And while I ordered spares for mine, found out that the mounting struts and bearing are different too with bigger 1.6 16V brakes. I don't know how about 1.9 TDI but I think both 1.6 16v Roomster and Fabia parts should be interchangeable, according to spare parts sites smaller diesels use same front as smaller petrols. Trying to study these, as I'm too following the parts cars here.
