Clutch and Flywheel Replacement - 2.0 Diesel 150bhp manual (2016)

Featured Replies

I'm trying to gauge what I should be paying for a clutch and flywheel replacement on a Mk3 Superb I'm looking to buy. I've seen prices varying wildly, some as high as £2000! Currently waiting on a price from Skoda to get an idea of what the most I could pay is. Will try a couple of Indi's too.

So, anyone had theirs done on the same gearbox and how much did you pay?

Any help appreciated!

I would be interested to hear what reply you get from Skoda as I took am considering a clutch and flywheel change to try and stop the horrible judder I get from my car. Would be interested to see what others have paid as well.

The change cost £1,100 on our MKII CR170 about 6 years ago. That was with a multi-marque indy who always carried out services on our cars at the time.

Paid €1200 for clutch and flywheel recently. Keep looking as you will find a better price.

A lot of garages make a big deal out of this job, but I watched the two guys (albeit pros) working on my car and they had the whole job completed in 1.5 hours.

That seems like a fair price really. In 2 minds about carrying on with it juddering or bite the bullet and get it done. It's just finding the time to leave it with someone as I use it pretty much every day at the moment.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

€1200 seems a great price.

I just heard back from my local ŠKODA main dealer and was quoted £2690 😳

When I questioned the price, I was told the price for the flywheel alone is £1100.

Had a look on AUTODOC and for a luk clutch kit and flywheel it’s around £650.

I think I’ll keep shopping around!

Ask for independent garage recommendations from members in your area.

Yes I certainly will be!

I was quoted around £1,200 by two local garages and ended up trading the car in to the garage who changed it and they said it was about £700 for the clutch or £1,100 for clutch and flywheel. Definitely much better options out there than main dealers. Same 2016 Superb 2.0 tdi manual.

Did you ever get this sorted Fozzy92?

Mine is terrible and Skoda have quoted me £2,300. It's a 1.4 tsi 150ps manual. I've put up with it for 5 years now that I have owned the car, but it's really bad now to the point I need to take action. Only ever let Skoda do work on car to date, but do use independent garage for my wife's Rapid Spaceback so may try them. Want genuine parts. Wondering if it's better to source parts myself and get garage to fit them or have them do it all.

Thoughts?

Have the same car and it's a DMF you need. I'd shop around for a gearbox specialist, request LUK and you should be able to get the clutch and flywheel done for under £1500.00.  It is a big enough job, but I watched two pros working on mine, and they had the car done in just over an hour.

Well, lucky you dont live in norway then. Here they quote approx 2700Gbp at dealership. 2200Gbp is only at a few acceptable workshops, those under 1800Gbp is likely those who only accepts hard cash and hand you a handwritten receipt... For 1000Gbp you will get it done money under the table wise at a "friend" (parts labour included). Prices i norway are crazy compared to in UK.

Wow, not bad. That equals approx 2h for a complete clutch dmf replacement in "man labour"...1h is just crazy fast.

Update, spoke to a local VAG specialist today and booked in for next week for Luk clutch kit and flywheel for £890 inc VAT!

Wtf??? Thats just crazy cheap for that job parts included!!! It actually means they do the work for free.

Been recommended by a friend who uses them and they've been around for years as well, but I've always used main dealer until main dealer quoted me their silly price and it's made me look elsewhere. Will report back when work done, but excited to have no judder after 5 years of never knowing whether each journey will be a smooth one or otherwise!

Yeah, its actually so cheap that customers in UK should consider towing the car from all over UK mainlands to get it fixed there. Probably still save couple of 2-3-4 hundred Gbp 🙂 In Norway people travel 5-6-7 hours to get their cars fixed in Sweden.

I paid €320 'less than £300 at the time) for a Luk 3 piece clutch kit and dual mass flywheel including delivery from Spain.

Yeah, I also paid less than 300 Gbp for a complete set from Sachs back in 2021 for a Golf MK5, but have not seen complete Luk or Sachs for Octavia MK 3 under 500Gbp here in Norway, so thats why I think 890gbp parts and labour included at a VAG specialist dealer is very very cheap as f.... 🙂

It is a 3-5h job for a well trained mechanic

Looking around I don't think you can buy a kit with clutch and flywheel. Well, I can't find one anyway.

Are you sure? Both Luk and Sachs more than often sells these as a kit. What is your VIN number?

I don't have the vin to hand. But if I search on car part websites nobody seems to do a kit that includes a flywheel.

Try this: Luk 600 0371 00 on autodoc.

I guess since you have a 150hp diesel engine, you also have gearbox DQ350? If so, that kit should fit.

Mines the 190hp version. Not sure if it would make a difference.
