Oil service indication, time or mileage ? reset ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Indication states oil service in 27 days or 3700 miles. As it's only been 2000 miles since last oil change I'm assuming the indication has been triggered by time.

As stated, it indicates 3700 so that will probably take me 3 years to achieve .

I'm guessing this indication will keep appearing regardless . In the handbook it states that a reset must be done at dealers or other.

Any advice please.

Thank you

VCDS can do it. Not sure, but I guess OBD11 can also. Last one costs about 100 euros with PRO app.

Maybe dealer can do it cheaper, but the device will be active forever.

You do not reset it - it will give an annoiyng bling every time you start the car until you reset it.

I thought you could simply get rid of the oil service warning by holding down the "00 / SET" button while turning on the ignition.

@arthurmo is it 11 months since the last oil change 2,000 miles ago and is the car set for fixed oil and filter changed?     9,400 miles 372 days.      If it is set on variable so 24 months and 18,000 - 20,000 miles and was not reset last time then not much to be done than have who ever did not do their job fix things.    If you are only doing 2,000 miles a year then fixed oil changed are correct.  If you are not doing DIY checks, inspections / servicing you do need someone else to and not leave things for 2 years between.

My Kodiaq doesn`t have such a button.

How do you reset your trip odometer?

With the virtual cockpit, the only way (or, at least, the only way I know of) is to dig into the menus and do it that way. It's bloody annoying.

Are you saying press the trip button and then turn on the ignition ?

I did try this but with ignition on but that just brought up the clock setting.

I'm assuming that it's synthetic oil but the service record doesn't state which has been used. Anyway, surely it's the mileage that matters not time with oil ?

Maybe I'm missing something but why doesn't the warning work on mileage only ? I'm thinking another ploy to give main dealers income.

I will call the dealer who did the last service and ask.

Yes synthetic oil. Full synthetic even when not long life.

  VW508 00 / 509 00, that is 02 20 FS IV,  or they maybe went VW504 00 / 507 00 0w 30 FS III or 5w 30 FS III   These are long life oils. 18,000-20,000 miles.

Is your car service indicator on fixed servicing. So 12 months.  That is why the miles does not matter.  372 days or 9,400 miles.     So when was the oil and filter changed,?    Best not assume.

Maybe read a VW website on Service Regimes.    Fixed. Low daily or annual miles.  Oil not often enough and engine not getting to operating temp.  Condensation in the engine.   Servicing is more than just changing oil.

Lots of videos on Youtube - just search for "skoda reset service". For some reason most hits are for the Octavia but it's exactly the same for the Kodiaq.

Called Dealer today and it's a long life schedule.

They admitted that their technician hadn't realised and didn't reset the car accordingly. They offered to reset it for free so that's solved that mystery.

Many thanks to you all for your time and advice, much appreciated .

Resetting it for free is OK if you are OK with that.

The thing is that is fine for them, but if anyone just wants a Service Indication reset and no service carried out it is making a joke of the Service History.

They should add to the Service History, correction of an employees error on resetting at the last service.

A Long Life Service Regime is wrong if the car is doing low annual mileages.
