Dash lights

Featured Replies

My dash warning lights have recently kept staying on once engine is running. They will sometimes reset with a fresh engine start. What should I be looking at ?

Seen a previous post saying could be a speed sensor fault. Have got mechanic with fault code reader booked

Which lights? I'd suspect a battery issue, battery connection issue, damaged maxi fuse or a clocks fault personally.

Okay cheers I’ll mention it to the mechanic

Got the mechanics feedback today. Although two ABS ( speed) sensors showing faulty the issue might be with u/s alternator putting out only 12v. Oh well another bill due ?

These lights come on and off intermittently, took my Superb to Volksmaster centre in Oldham, they did diagnostic and said it was from N/S/R ABS sensor, checked wiring which was ok, but said the bearing was well worn and needed to be replaced, job done also fitted a new sensor at same time, however that did not sort problem out , replaced old sensor and asked me to monitor it , and in may need a Skoda ABS sensor rather than the off the shelf one they had tried, 1 week on and the light still are coming on intermittently, any ideas please. just priced new sensor £112 + Vat.

Get someone else, for instance AwesomeGTi in Irlam, to do the diagnostic. Depending on the results, you may wish to ask Volksmaster for a refund.

Thanks, going to try a new battery £130.00 at Costco not fitted, them another £40.00 to link it in to the cars computer, after getting a Skoda ABS sensor fitted, getting a few people saying 10 year old battery might be the issue.

And yes I already feel like asking for a refund from Volkmaster

I'd always try to pick a problem apart before throwing parts at it.

Actually, this is confusing, are you both talking about the same fault on the same car?

Pick the problem apart, isn't easy with little or no knowledge of engines or electrics,It's mystery why I can but driving alone with no dash lights on ,then on for a few miles then off.

From my experience of having had several of these lately, I needed a new ABS pump (which contributed the ABS and ESP lights).

However, if they have diagnosed sensor issues, I would ask how thorough their examination was.  Some garages see the fault is in the sensor and then just replace the sensor - but what if the sensor is fine but the wiring is faulty?  A split or snapped wire will register the same error and changing the sensor won't help.  I'd go for a second opinion there; I have had a garage that did this the lazy way and when I asked "what about the wiring?" they just said, "well, where do you start?"  "Can I have my key please so I can go somewhere else, thanks!"

The light on the left just suggests a recent battery disconnexion which makes sense if work has been done, I think that should go on its own.

The tyre pressure one may well be unrelated to the others, and just be a tyre pressure issue.  Appearing at the same time could just be a coincidence that makes it seem like a bigger problem.

Also belt up to get rid of the red one.  :)

The wiring was checked and passed, that was the first thing after diagnostic check was done, but on checking the bearing found it to be worn,(which they showed to me) they put new bearing and new sensor on, but ended up putting the old sensor back on which seemed to solve the issue, but as I was ready to go the lights were back on, they said they think it needed a genuine Skoda sensor rather than the off the shelf one they had purchased, they took an hours labour and the cost of the sensor off the bill.

Just got a text from Volksmaster to say they have sourced the ABS Skoda sensor, including fitting and recheck would be £211.44 inc VAT

Went to Halfords for a free battery check, result "BAD- REPLACE" and it's only 5 years old.

Some folk are saying new battery will have to celebrated to the car, does any know if that's true?

Well a small party won't hurt.

😂Calibrated

New ABS sensor fitted today and issue is resolved, thanks for all the feed-back.😋😋

Finally sorted. Two new ABS sensors plus a new alternator to. Probably the first real bill I’ve had apart from normal servicing at 145k so can’t complain
