Engine Management light

Featured Replies

Hi, The engine management light on my Skoda Fabia came up on my dashboard in mid-February. It's been in the garage since then. First they said it was mended but the brakes needed fixing and then finally admitted that they hadn't fixed the problem flagged by the engine management light. I think they have sent the circuit board off to a diagnostic centre but they can't find what's wrong. A friend said it could be the fuel cut off system. The problem showed up when driving as the car seemed to lose power. I didn't have trouble switching it on. It's a fantastic car in good condition and it seems a shame to write it off if the problem can't be diagnosed. Any suggestions welcome

Welcome.

Maybe best if you say what engine the car has, petrol or diesel and what size.

There is something very wrong with whoever has the car if they can not diagnose the fault or cause of Engine Management light being on.

Well. IMO they should return your car for you to take to a competent garage, without charge other than for the brake work.

@Rburkitt  Where are you, or the car, North of England or Scotland?

More in the Midlands thanks

Sorry i can not recommend any VW Specialists or even a mechanic in your region that will be more clued up then those that have your car.

If it's a 1.6 TDI then it's likely to be an injector related fault, I'd replace all four if they've never been done but you really do need an independent VW specialist.

Hi - thanks for this. I'm going to ring and let them know I'm moving the car to a separate garage. It's gone beyond a joke now. Your advice is really helpful, thanks.
