I'm looking at upgrading my stock speakers, was probably going to go with these:

Focal is-vw-165

Then, while I was sitting in the car today I noticed that the front door card has an opening for a mid speaker. Has anyone put 3 way speakers into a mk 4? Focal make a set :

Focal 165-as3

Lol like they'll fit, but will they sound better? 

If you have Canton, there is already a mid speaker there.

Canton wasn't an option when I ordered it, so I guess it's just the hole where the canton speaker would be!

    Anyone know where the front tweeters are? Are they next to the windscreen where those holes are? If so seems strange to put them right next to glass.

    How you getting on with this?
