Whistling sound high RPM

Featured Replies

Hello,

could someone advise? The whistling sound occurs at high rpm after starting. The sound stops as soon as I increase the rpm a few times while driving. At idle, this sound does not occur. The alternator belt and tensioner pulley have been replaced, but the problem still persists. 2.0 TDI. 235k KM

.

Does the noise come back at idle under high electrical load.
climate on with lights etc?

No, never on idle.

Check the alternator clutch. Usually can put a screwdriver in and turn it, plastic would be best, if not it's no good. Take the belt off see if the noise disappears then you know it's on the auxillary system.

Ok. It still sounds like the alternator itself is at fault.

As an aside that video made me feel like I was about to fall out of a moving car 😵‍💫

Has someone put a harmonica or whistle in the grille as a joke? 🤣 I did it to my brother.

Why was the altnernator and belt replaced? If it was because of the sound then can rule that out.

If the sound happened after alternator and belt changed then it’ll be the belt, sounds like belt slipping which is a very 90’s sound t

Did you check the alternator clutch yet?

Alternator clutch is also changed now, no changes at all. Still the same issue, maybe alternator is faulty..I don't know what else it could be
the belt is changed to see if the sound stops, but unfortunately the sound still appears
