Best vRS Remap

Featured Replies

Have just ordered one of the little beasts should be here in the next two weeks.

Once i have the car i will be remapping it to release all that trapped wind, in the past i have used AMD for my remapping but i feel their premium rates are only worth it for new engines as there R&D is head and shoulders above the rest.

Since the 1.9 130 has been around for a while i am considering Jabba's generic remap as it offers best bhp/

Basically there are a fair few remappers out there. The well-known ones tend to be good, there are newer ones out there which may give the same results though.

A custom map may not be a bad one either if you're after more power, although that tends to strain things more (if you go for the all-out-power).

That said you can get a custom remap which can be tweaked to keep it below clutch-endangering levels of torque :)

I'd say the best remap is one that makes drivability better (more smoothness) and doesn't result in the motor going pop!

JMHO.

I've got a pd130 vRS on it's way and have already booked my RICA remap.

The choice was down to price, plus it's a decent remap anyway.

What is the generally agreed level of torque for the out of the box clutch my 05 Golf Gti took 10,000 miles of abuse (21 laps of the ring) with 290lbs of torque with out complaining.

Keep the torque to about 290 lb/ft and things should last ok. Going over 300 lb/ft eats the standard clutch very fast. HP does not do the damage the torque does. And the figures depend on the rolling road. I am sure some of the 190 - 195 bhp fabia vrs with just a remap might not look so clever on independant rolling roads.

Plenty of uprated clutch's available now though.

Just my few comments. Hope it helps

Ie, the one with the biggest area under the dyno graph, rather than the one producing the biggest peak values. If I had one, I'd be looking at Custom Code, and I'd personally get it mapped on the road (where it will be driven) rather than on a rolling road in an artificial environment :D

Jabba's more recent maps also seem to be 'smoother' than the original ones (that were VERY spiked).

I currently have a phase 1 (generic) remap by Custom-Code and it works well, it's about 170ish bhp at the most so I was told.

One day I will get a phase 2/3 though & I should hit nicer numbers still.

Having a remap or tuning box does transform the performance on the speeding up front, but there is still handling/braking to work out if that's the kind of car you're after.

imo custom code is the current market leader however apr's map is very similar on the octy. my jabba map is quite peaky but it does have a VERY nice kick @ circa 2,200 revvs and keeps going.

323 lb/ft of torque on the standard clutch for 30,000 miles and no slippage. I think it's more down to the way it's driven, i.e. drive around the area where you may damage the clutch. Basically don't floor it in 6th @ 50 mph at 1500 revvs. Just drop it into 5th or 4th even better and then go, and enjoy all the bhp that comes in later in the revv range.

Just Got a Revo Trial on mine and.....Fook Me! 90mph in 6th and floor it....it still pulss like a train!!!!! Unbelievable!!!

BTW before someone points out you can't have a Revo Trial on a Diesel, you can if you know someone with a de-transpondered Revo'd ECU :D
