A leaking windscreen has the exact same symptoms as a leaking roof, it comes in the exact same places...so definitely check it. Might save you a lot of grief

Good tip, cheers for sharing your experience! However if you have the roof lining down you can soon spot a leaking cassette - there's no way to get it mixed up with a leaking windscreen. I still haven't worked up the courage to take mine down and fix it, and am driving around bare-roofed for a third year. Doesn't bother me too much TBH but my wife's patience is running out.

The picture is from the front off-side corner and you can just see the water building due to the broken seal between the front and side panels of the cassette. The video is from the rear near-side corner and this time the leak is due to a blocked drain hose.

Have you watched this series of videos?

Using something like Captain Tolleys might be enough to sort it over time without you having to get totally destructive with the roof lining. I can't 100% get my head around exactly where you leak is when viewed from the top of the car but where he runs the crack repairer in the video might get to it.

re windscreen

My L&K had the cracked, heated windscreen replaced (Autoglass).  It has original Pilkington glass in doors and tailgate and original VAG Automotive glass in both rear quarters.

I cannot remember whether the original screen manufacturer was P or VAG but now it has a FUYAO. I remember querying the replacement with the fitter (thinking I was being subbed a cheaper replacement) but he reassured me that it was a better suited replacement for the original.  Whether or not..........it doesn't leak but then neither did the original.

However, a fingertip test around the black/clear border suggests 'embedded'. Certainly not surface mounted top of the screen shading as  WAYNE   TRACY  back in the day.
